This Victorian home modernised by the back extension is a showpiece of contemporary living here in Melbourne. One of the most attractive features of this home is the 120-year-old Gingko Tree in the backyard, a show piece, a connection of outdoors and art.. The architectural extension was respectfully designed around it and a veil like window frames a view to its foliage from the master bedroom on the first floor.

Together, with the careful placement of openings, the sounds of the water feature and strong visual connections to lush landscaped outdoor areas, a sense of spaciousness and tranquillity is achieved. TBG had the pleasure of creating this prodigious space including the design of circular pavers in the pond, installed by our team.

The clients desire for a mainly modern, contemporary, light and open house formed a harmonious juxtaposition between the existing Victorian heritage fabric and the architectural contemporary additions. The interface between old and new was dramatized through transparency and light with sky glazing, glass flooring and a 6m high wall of plants and flowing water. We are very proud to work in collaboration with Nicholas Murray Architects for this project.

It was a pleasure to work alongside Nicholas Murray Architects in this masterpiece heritage Victorian home. The brief meant the Melbourne house would need to be on several levels and allow the rear informal spaces to flow down onto the landscape: an overflowing green space with practicality. The landscape allows the architecture of the home to flow from indoor to outdoor living.

The Toorak Residence by Architecton is a contemporary residential architecture project located in Melbourne’s affluent inner city suburb of Toorak. The home maximises the potential of the site whilst remaining sensitive to the existing streetscape and the socio-economic character of the affluent Melbourne suburb.The outdoor area was designed to accomodate a large pool that fits beautifully into the marble tiling. The use of outdoor greenery and an all white colour palette gives the outdoor space the impression of an exotic oasis located in inner-city Melbourne.

Victoria & Burke, a soft, inviting landscape. Expansive terraces and gardens provide the joy and functionality of a traditional backyard. Enjoy verdant outlooks from almost every room, and the change of colours every season. A magnificent 200-year-old blue gum is the centrepiece of Victoria & Burke’s private garden. Designed by Jack Merlo and executed by our team at The Botanical Group, it is a botanic experience sprawling over 420SQM.
